Decorating a room is not as easy as it seems. What should we do first?
Choose a sofa for the living room, a bed for the bedroom... etc etc?
Ok, but what about the colors? the style?
And how to get something harmonious and which reflects who we are?
The 3rd episod of "The Style School" by Rebecca Judd gives us some tips and helps us to organize our thoughts.
The most important thing, when we have no idea how to start, is to find a piece we particularly love (as the big zebra picture here), take one or two colors from it and introduce them elsewhere in the room, on cushions, books, decorative items.
If the result looks too simple or too neutral, we can add a very special piece (as the rug here) to give more personality to the room.
It is also interesting to mix different textures (velvet, cotton, ...).
And to create a dynamic, we should avoid to have every items (on a cupboard for example) on the same height. It would look too linear and a bit boring.
As Julia Green, the founder of Greenhouse Interiors, says on the video : "you want your eyes to take a journey (...) so if everything is at the same height, there is no point of interest."
